We took advantage of the long Labor Day weekend and went to visit Alabama. We were hoping for cooler weather, but Tropical Storm Lee cooled it down more in Baton Rouge than the temperatures in Huntsville. We managed to travel with the storm a good portion of the way to Alabama and because of rain, accidents and bad timing for the kids, our 8 hour trip took almost 12 hours. We experienced the same problem from Huntsville to Montgomery when that trip took 4 1/2 hours instead of 3 because Lee had made his way to Alabama.
We did have a good time visiting family. The boys chased Grandma Kelly’s new dog around the house, played Wii at my parents, Alexander went fishing and Benjamin went swimming. Kyle got in a round of golf with his dad and Kam. I saw old friends at church. Then we got to see all our friends in Montgomery. There is just something about Montgomery—the city is ugly, you have to have an alarm on your house, you always lock your doors, the public schools are bad—the people there are great. We have the best friends there. Alexander and Scott can pick up like there has been no time missed. I know Cindy, Candi and Nica would still do anything they could to help me with anything I needed. We made great lifetime friends there and it is so good to see that time and space doesn’t change that.
