Meeting Mickey Mouse

We had so much fun at Disney World last week.  We were able to get an AMAZING deal thanks to Kris and spent 6 days and 5 nights there.

Day 1: Driving and lots of it.  We started about 10 pm Saturday night and were able to make it until about 6 Sunday morning before the boys woke up.  We stopped and had some breakfast then met Kris, a.k.a. Uncle Noodle, at the T-Rex Restaurant in Downtown Disney.  Kris gave them their official vacation Mouse Ears.  The boys loved it.  We couldn’t get Benjamin to stay in the booth longer than 10 minutes.

Then we headed off to Wilderness Lodge, our home for the next 5 days.  Kelly got there in time for dinner and we ate at Whispering Canyon.  It was one of the most fun meals we had.  The waiters were loud and obnoxious and they had a wooden horse race around the restaurant.  Lots of fun.  When Kyle asked for a refill this is what he got. (It is apparently 14 cups of Coke Zero and he drank it all.)

Day 2: Hollywood Studios

The trip was all worth it for me as soon as we got on the first ride and I saw Alexander smile.  It was one of those genuine smiles full of pure joy.  Then he got to battle Darth Vader.  I think everyone reading this has probably seen the link of Facebook but here it is again.

We also saw Buzz and Woody after going on the Toy Story ride where Kyle totally dominated all of us (well except Kris but he has more experience).  Benjamin loved seeing the characters, which shocked us.  After his last experience with the Easter Bunny and the Chic-fil-a cows we thought he’d be terrified, but he couldn’t see enough of them.  Each time he finished meeting one character he’d ask about another.  Woody was totally hitting on me, but Kyle didn’t take any pictures of that.

We also saw the Playhouse Disney show, the Muppet 3-D show and the Little Mermaid show.

That night after the kids were in bed Kyle and I went with Kris to Animal Kingdom and rode Expedition Everest and The Dinosaur Ride and decided the boys definitely shouldn’t see the Its tough being a bug show.  DO NOT take little kids to that—it is terrifying.

Day 3: Magic Kingdom

We started the morning with Peter Pan’s Flight and then Dumbo.  Then it was off to Crystal Palace for brunch and Pooh characters.  Benjamin again was very excited (but Kris must have pictures of him there, because I don’t).

After lunch we went on Thunder Mountain and Splash Mountain.  Alexander LOVES roller coasters.  Also a surprise.  We saw Mickey’s House and went on a little roller coaster that Benjamin could ride.  By the end of the trip both boys were riding with their hands in the air.  We saw the parade that night and the most AMAZING firework show ever.

And then we went home to sleep.  I’ll split this post into two since it is so long.  Days 4 and 5 to come.
