We went to Bass Pro shop to see Santa on my birthday with all our friends. We tried to have dinner there and it was chaotic to say the very least. The kids way out numbered us and were tired and hungry and Kyle will never ever agree to that again.
The boys enjoyed helping decorate and redecorate the tree (daily). Benjamin took any chance he could to try and eat the gingerbread house. He has mastered his "cheese" smile. Alexander's school did a Christmas program that he refused to sing for. He was a cute bear though. He also wouldn't sing for the ward Christmas party. He is pretending he is shy lately. I think he just wants to be the only one getting the attention, not the whole group. He is pretty good at getting attention too.
Christmas was great. We spent the 23-26th in Gatlinburg with Kyle's family. It is so relaxing up there. On our drive there we stopped at the children's museum in Chattanooga. It is amazing. We could have played there all day and it was extra amazing because it happened to be community free day so it cost us nothing and was a good break to our long drive.
We had the most wonderful and traditional Gatlinburg breakfast at the Pancake Pantry on Christmas eve and then hung out at the cabin. In line for breakfast Alexander was making friends with anyone willing to listen to his stories. We are going to send him out with Kris and Kam to help them pick up women. On Christmas morning Alexander overlooked his presents from Santa (a tent and sleeping bags) until he found his bubble gum--which he later consumed all of while hiding in his tent. That is all he asked for anytime he was asked. Benjamin was very excited to have balls and his own golf clubs. He has walked around the house with a club almost constantly since we got home.
We spent a few more days in Huntsville and celebrated with my family. Michelle and Sam came while BJ was on leave for Christmas. This is a true family picture.
We got home and spent a day unwinding from vacation then geared up for New Years. We invited our friends over here so we could put some of the littler kids to bed. Not as many as we hoped went to sleep, but they were all surprisingly well behaved for being up so late.
Now we are in birthday mode. Alexander is way into dinosaurs right now so he is taking dinosaur cookies to school and having a dinosaur themed party. I'll post more on that after the fact.
We are still hoping to sell the house soon to get ahead a little bit. We've had 5 showings but in this neighborhood if you are seeing one house you see them all, and the others have sold. That should be good for us though.
This year I've resolved to be more consistent in living the gospel and setting that example for my boys.
I hope you all have a wonderful new year!
